🖤 dark gothic romance 🖤
🖤 dislike to lovers 🖤
🖤 set in a mental institution 🖤
🖤 girl who wants to die x boy who wants to live 🖤
🖤 found family 🖤
🖤 tattooed mmc 🖤
🖤 family trauma 🖤
🖤 HEA, but they go through it first 🖤

Right, so this was truly something. Kept my attention immediately, not too long, short chapters. Compelling characters for sure, and a real found family vibe. All good things, but I kinda felt like the characters developed attachments to each other rather quickly. Which actually makes sense given that they’re in a mental institution and don’t have family around them.

Wynn and Liam develop strong feelings for each other immediately. First there’s dislike, but that quickly, quickly turns to an unbreakable love. Perhaps they’re trauma bonded, but I love them together.

Lanston is an amazing character and I adore him. You’ll just have to read this book to figure out why, but let me just say he’s the perfect best friend.

I can’t fully explain why I wanted to give this book 3.75 stars because it was really good and kept my attention, and I didn’t feel like I was dragging myself through it. It just didn’t give me as many feels, though that’s by design to be fair. It’s a depressing book full of triggers, so check the content warnings, but I knew all that going in. I just wasn’t ready for the ending I guess. But please don’t let my rating stop you from reading this, if it’s your cup of tea! 🖤

This was good but a bit predictable. It didn’t quite hit all the way. I picked this up because I was told there was a hate aspect, but it never  felt like they hated each other. The twist was a little underwhelming. The murder mystery/detective aspect of this was a huge thread in the first half and then just fell off. The end was very sad but not enough to make me cry and I’m a CRIER. Overall, I did like the premise.
