I just finished. I really don’t know how should I feel about it. But I’m glad I read it. It’s a different genre than what I usually read.

The writer is really good. I could kind of feel what Charlie was feeling and still be an outsider. I was confused the whole time because Charlie was confused and didn’t really know everything. And it really did felt like a high schooler was writing the letters.

I didn’t really like what was going on. Because until the very end everything got worse and worse. And that made feel depressed. But I really liked Charlie. He wasn’t perfect but he was special. He wasn’t even aware of it.

So at the end it was a well written, depressing and precious book. I think it was quiet interesting.

While it might not be as shocking as it was when it was first released, this is a great read and an important one for everyone-- for people who've struggled with anxiety and depression and trauma to see that they're not alone, and for people who haven't to see what it's like for people who have. Overall it's a charming and poignant book.

Top tier YA even after all these years

It was interesting reading this for the first time as an adult and reflecting on the themes and plot-points I couldn’t quite understand at 14

Specifically noticed what a beautiful reflection this is on masculinity

Also 1) Logan Lerman really did nail it aaaand 2) I have to read Catcher in the Rye again now
