This was not my favorite of the series. I think I was distracted rather than charmed by the point of view of the victim, and the mystery itself seemed fairly standard. The lawyer and cop characters, usually so compelling to me, were both somewhat tepid in this round--maybe because they were competing with the victim's point of view for attention. Bet the next one will be better.

Ensimmäinen kirjani tältä kirjoittajalta. Helppolukuinen ja kiinnostava enkä arvannut loppuratkaisua. Ehkä olisi kannattanut lukea sarjan aiempia ensin, koska monet viittaukset aiempiin tapahtumiin vähän häiritsivät välillä.

Another suspenseful murder mystery by Larsson. Rebecca Martinson is a prosecutor in the north of Sweden. The body of a young woman missing for 6 months turns up in a local river, but the boyfriend is still missing. The mystery ends up having ties to the second World War and the Nazi presence in Sweden. Central to the story is that there were Nazi collaborators in Sweden and a resistance movement that included Norwegians, Danes and Swedes. Martinson doggedly pursues the case to a frightening ending.

a wonderfully written story with characters vibrant and troubled. And a ghost for good measure :-).

2.5 stars. The mystery was good, but I didn't like the omniscient victim's ghost, particularly as she more more than just observer - she advanced some of the plot points.
