nbakken's review against another edition
5.0
Even though this book was released in 2004, so much of the information it expands upon is still incredibly relevant today. I was fascinated to read about how religion has conflicted with politics and legislation literally since the country was founded, up through the Civil War, during the women's suffrage movement, the civil rights movement, and well into the present. It would be interesting to hear Jacoby's take on the Black Lives Matter movement and America's fear of Muslim refugees from Syria.
It can get a little dry at times, but well worth a read.
