So, I have mixed feelings about this book and the series as a whole. I (mostly) like the characters and the literary references but there’s also a mean-spiritedness to these books that I find troubling. Fat-shaming, pointless Mean Girl drama over and over again, and Megan’s blog featuring photos with snarky captions of people whom she perceives to have committed “fashion blunders” are all examples of this unkindness. At least Mrs. Wong gets treated with a little more respect in this installment.
Moderate: Bullying and Fatphobia
