The Mother Daughter Book Club is an enjoyable series to read but I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting a little too old for them. Now, I like reading Young Reader novels. There's plenty of them out there that are on par or even better than the novels in the YA section.
Though the characters in the MDBC series have aged from sixth(?) graders to freshman in high school it sometimes feels to me as if they haven't truly grown. They seem to act and think exactly the same way they did in the first book of the series. I don't know, maybe I'm just looking for these novels to be a little more than what they are.
Heather Vogel Frederick's writing sometimes feels a little bland to me in places. None of the characters seem to really pop out of the pages. The switching of POV's is finally beginning to lose its shine on me. It's nice to get in the heads of all four characters but at the same time it seems like a large part of the story is flying by.
I really do like this series. I've come to some kind of attachment with these characters and want to continue to follow into their lives as long as Miss Frederick allows us to.

Another great book from the ‘Mother-Daughter Book Club’ series. The girls are now in high school and starting to date. I love how each book shows their continued growth and maturity. A bonus is their book club pick this year is Pride & Prejudice with a focus on Jane Austen, which I love! My daughter and I are enjoying these books immensely and I love how she wants to read the same book as the book club pick.

I love how you watch the girls grow up throughout the series. I think I started reading this series in middle school so it really felt like I grew up with them. This one is for sure one of my favorites.

I find this book series to be well thought out, adorable, and inspiring. This book series should be one read by girls in 6th grade on up. There are so many things to take away from this series and so many great little things you can do to enhance your reading of these books that they give you fun things to do on a platter.
Food, discussion questions, decorations, companion books, sewing, drawing, animals, day trips, road trips, international trips, sports, friendship, pranks, family, just everything.
Just absolutely wonderful I know that I have a little cousin who will be getting the first one.
Little eye rolling with the number of 'once in a lifetime' trips this entire group is able to afford and go on every year....
