The beats of the plot was a little off, in that it was slow for 2/3 of the book and then things happened but I love these characters so much and I'm laughing aloud while reading it, so I don't mind as much, cannot wait to read the last one in this series!

This definitely felt like the strongest novel in Mistborn part 2 so far. With the same humour and whirlwind battles as the previous books, this adds another level to the powers and mysterious of metals, and gives a deeper insight into Wax's headspace. While I was initially frustrated by loss of my first ship, I have to grudgingly admit that the new ship is heartfelt.

I think this is my favorite of the Wax and Wayne series so far! There are so many Cosmere connections in this book and they were by far my favorite part. We learned so much more about this world and its implications for the Cosmere at large. I do think this focus on worldbuilding did lead to less character focus and development. Some of it was still there, particularly in Steris, but I wish there was more. I don't feel as connected as I do to the characters in Stormlight. This book just gave me more questions and I'm so excited to learn more and dive into Lost Metal.

Though when
when Wax died, I felt sad for Wax but HEARTBROKEN for Wayne. Wayne is the best character in Era 2 in my opinion and I want him to be okay.
. Also, it was annoying how
no one died in this book. I get why, but come on. Wax says he isn't an executioner so he doesn't want to kill his uncle, but he kills people all the time for no remorse
Particularly for character development,
I do wish there was more of Marasi. She says how she is going on her own path away from Wax, but what is that? She seems sure of it, but I have no idea what she is talking about.

This is definitely my favorite Wax & Wayne thus far! It felt like there was a little more urgency to the plot, which I think was missing from the first two books. I absolutely love the relationship between Wax and Steris! Honestly, I love the relationship and connection between all of the characters. Wayne will forever be my favorite though!
