Holy cliffhanger! I'm up in the air on this one—invested enough to want to read on and see what happens but not sure when I'll grab book 2
Jens bugged me with the way she used Rhett after he was so nice, but I have a feeling Rhett isn't what he seems either.

Amazing! I thought I had the book frightens out in my head and I am pretty sure it’s not going the direction I thought it was. I throughly enjoyed reading it. Jen aka Jenson is a complex character and I like the small snippets of her childhood. It shows how she is the person she is now. I can’t wait for the other two books to see how this all comes together!

I did receive this as a free ebook from the author. That doesn’t change my review. I truly enjoyed reading it.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

"Before you embark on a journey of revenge...dig two graves" Jen grew up a solitary child with just her wounded father for love. Her mother left her when she was a baby and the despair of their lives embittered her father. After her father passes, Jen embarks on a journey of revenge toward the mother that abandoned her. She targets her step brother Rhett, who begins to melt her revenge focused heart.

What did I like? The chemistry coming from Rhett is panty dropping and swoon worthy, and they just work as a couple. Jen is so guarded though and just keeps herself distant which may or may not work in her favor. The cliffy at the end though was utterly cruel.

Would I buy this book? Of course, I love this author and I think this book was a hit, just wish I had been gifted the next two. I would definitely recommend this, loved it.

Thoughts for the author? Gift me the other two :) I would have been happy to read the whole series. I will however keep looking on Netgalley and we might get lucky!

Very short, wish there was more - I loved it. Revenge is sweet, so is the hot sex in this book. I’m going to read the other stories now, I can’t wait to see if she sticks to her original revenge plan or if love gets in the way because Rhett is too much to resist!!

THE WRITING AND ALL WAS BEAUTIFUL.
It was so detail [the spice]
First of all, I didn't know any thing about the book nor the description. I didn't even know that this is rated-you-know-what. I should've read the description first, It was an okay novel about a girl who wanted a revenge for her cruel mother, but then she just felt something different with Rhett which was so fast, she give it a hint that she was interested with the boy, but the plan keeps on torturing her, but it was good. I do hoped that it would be all right in the next one, I was still wondering if Rhett would is still second-guess her after she found her in the stripper club where she works. I was expecting a drama from another book, I'm betting on that.

This is a story about a woman, Jennifer Fanelli aka Jensen who is out for revenge. She has been living a challenging life thanks to the struggles she was brought up in. She is at a point where she wants to get back at her mother that left her and her dad when she was young and never looked back.

Cue in Rhett Montgomery, a frat boy who is part of the mix of her plotting vengeance. Keeping her enemy close and having him fall head over heels for her. When all is said and the plan is set into place she would throw him into a loop that will utterly surprise him with her reveal.

However, what she did not expect is someone who is not the typical college boy that everyone assumes him to be and begins ending up to be something more. Feelings that she is not used too. The question remains...to follow through with her plan or not?

Although there were moments that were predictable the overall story line was one that I surprisingly enjoyed and keep me intrigue on everything playing out. Rhett definitely had me swooning with his romantic and sweet ways. Jensen is a woman broken with a past that is hard for her to get past. As the plot progressed the change in her was one that will you rooting for more in life for her personally and hopefully be able to move on. This was a great start to the series and looking forward to seeing how this story will play.

I voluntarily received a copy for an honest review!

I have to say first that this isn’t a complete story. Secondly, I’m highly disappointed. It is troubling. I really thought we were getting somewhere and it cut off and felt like it was I. The middle of a thought.

I loved Rhett from the minute Jensen meets him. I’m not a big fan of hers, but I understand she has her reasons for being so difficult. I feel like there is s9mething going on between him and the evil step mom cause he kinda fastly got through it and moved on. Jensen’s life story is hard so hard. I really feel for the girl. I want to bring her home with me and show her people can love you truly.

I hate how it ends...like I’m so torn because most of it was really good. But the end just made me mad. Like how long do I have to wait to finish this book. I love this author....please bring out the second part soon.

Monica Murphy knows how to do taboo. I usually don’t like taboo, i won’t lie, but after reading her Never duet, I knew I could trust her to do this book justice. There is a major cliffhanger and of course I need to know what happens between Jensen and Rhett. Jensen is so angry and getting a glimpse at her childhood, we can see exactly why she holds such a grudge against her mother. I am very interested in learning Rhett’s story because i feel like there is much more to him that meets the eye. Can’t wait to continue this series.

Her Defiant Heart
is the first book in the Damaged Hearts series and tells the story of Jensen and Rhett.

Her Defiant Heart is the second book I read by Monica Murphy and it was totally different than the first book I’ve read by her, Saving It. I mean this in a good way because Her Defiant Heart was such an interesting and addictive read.

I really liked the main character Jensen because she kind of reminded me of Joe from the TV show You. She always talked to herself like Joe did in the TV show, and I kinda liked that she was a bit psycho. Rhett was also an interesting character because Jensen never believed him so you don’t trust him either.

Her Defiant Heart was such a fast paced read and I couldn’t get enough of the story and the characters. There were some plot twists, and I couldn’t help myself from buying the two other books in the series. I really wanted to know what was going to happen to the characters.

I think that the second book in the series, His Wasted Heart, was the best book in the series and I really recommend checking out these books!
