While timely, Harris will need to publish a big update now that she's VP.

I read this YA version because it is what was available through my library. She talks some about her upbringing and her strong sense of justice and public service. Her book provides a clear reminder of what public service means (especially after the recently ousted self-serving and hateful administration). What a breath of fresh air!

We all know that the strides Harris has made make her an esteemed role model. This book outlines her life, career (through becoming a Senator), and thoughts on current-day issues including immigration/family separation, gay marriage, economic challenges, universal healthcare, criminal justice, etc. She's always willing to roll up her sleeves and get to work tackling issues and trying to improve lives. There's a nice balance between her personal and professional lives here, and the entire book moves along at a good clip.

Since she's VP, I already knew quite a bit about her work and views; this book would have been more revealing had she remained a Senator (and might not have normally had a nationwide audience as she now has).

An inspirational and good book for YA readers who want to know more about her.
