In this book we get to see more of the fae world of San Francisco. We also learn a lot about Toby. I really could not put this book down. The author weaves such a nice bloody sad exciting story each time and more gets revealed each time. It's truly fascinating.

There are a lot of neat ideas in the October series, and I like the interpretations of the fairy tales, lore, etc.
I am, however, very tired of the instances where someone speaks and October mentions how she knows who the speaker is based on their voice. Having it rephrased over and over and used for scene openings is a bit dragging. It is done often enough in this book to be noticeable - and annoying.

This book is all sorts of crazy and its quite the ride.
Toby is awarded the duchy of Goldengreen by the Queen of mists and everything spirals from there. Lily, lady of the Tea Garden's is sick. When Luna Torquill is also struck down, Toby finds clues that Oleander de Mers is invovled. She must dodge the vicious Raysel, avoid being arrested for murder, cure the court of cats and stop seeing things.
My only real objection was how much Conner time there is in this book.

Originally read this in 2014, but I just finished rereading it the other day, so I'm totally counting it for this year. Not high art, but very satisfying.

Liked this one much better than #3. Some questions are being answered, and Toby no longer seems to be missing blatant clues.
