The Angel of Indian Lake by Stephen Graham Jones is a wonderful horror-filled ending to the Indian Lake Trilogy.

This book came out in March of this year and I've been putting off reading it because I didn't want the trilogy to end. I finally picked it up for spooky month and I inhaled it within 24 hours. And gosh, SGJ really knocked it out of the park.

Jade Daniels is such a layered character and I felt for her over the course of this series. In this installment, she is our main POV character and I really appreciated that! She's back in Proofrock, Idaho four years after Don't Fear the Reaper and in a wonderful full-circle moment, she's teaching history at the local high school. SGJ does such a great job with her character growth across the whole series, especially in this one where we're exploring major themes of mental health and processing childhood trauma.

I also really liked the interstitials that are spread out throughout the book. There is a bit of a mixed media element to those, and I loved that the audiobook had multiple narrators to help get that across.

This series is more than just a horror series. It's about letting people in, it's about reaching out. I love the friendship between Jade and Letha especially.

If you like horror, especially if you like slasher movies, please pick up this series.

CW: violence, gore, death

As the last book in the series, this book continues to deliver hit after hit and no one is safe. Jade is a much different, much more traumatized character in this third book, but she continues to cling to the things that matter most to her as she fights off a final monster.
