An amazing end to the trilogy that I was very glad to be in the middle of reading on and after election day. It's horrific and tense and emotional, but like Jade, we get back up and keep fighting.

Initial feelings upon finishing: 3.5 stars rounded up because Jones holds nothing back in this one. I have whiplash from the multiple levels of carnage

Review: This was a pretty epic conclusion to the trilogy. It's 10 pounds of body parts in a 5lb bag. In this final installment, our heroine, Jade Daniels, has a final reckoning with all the horrible things from her past. All the wrongness that has been haunting Proofrock just unleashes like a tidal wave, and no one is safe. Most won't make it out alive. Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water....

It was fun, wild, and horrific. While I enjoyed this thrilling journey, I hope Jones finally lays this story to rest because damn...

Jade returns to Proofrock and is trying so hard to keep her life on track, to just be normal. Proofrock has other plans for her though.

I think this wrapped up everything in such a satisfactory way. The hits never stopped coming though. I kept wanting Jade to get a break, just let her catch her breath! The plot kept moving, the heart strings kept getting tugged and the friendship was overshadowing all of it. I think Jade finally came into herself here, though it was occasionally overwhelming to hear how negatively she feels about herself. That being said, I think it made sense within the plot. Really solid ending for me.

I wasn't sure it was going to be a five until the last two chapters though, those really did it for me. I am also glad the ending wasn't super crisp, that it left it open a little bit for, as the acknowledgements imply, to let Jade move on.

the only downside to this book is that the series is over and i'm really going to miss jade 😭 she's easily one of my all time favourite characters and, even though i'm someone who can never seem to reread books for a number of reasons, i know this entire trilogy is going to be the exception.

I get that this book is a metaphor, but I couldn’t get past the plot itself. I feel like I suffered through three books because of a false promise that my life would be altered for the effort. It was nice to see Jade grow up, but really, a last resort kind of book for me - to be read if there’s nothing left to read.
