Nowhere near as good as the other two. But has some fun twists and turns.

GAAAH!! This book could have been double length! I totally loved Luis Fuentes' story. It had some twists I never saw coming, and he was so smart, even more so than Alex. And with moving back to Illinois, it was really fun to see some characters from the past Fuentes brother's books as well.

Luis had a hunger for adrenialine that had me totally flabbergasted in the very first chapter. Then, it only got worse; or better, depending on how you look at it. The book kept me on my toes on every single page, I never knew what would happen, apart from maybe thinking that Nikki and Luis might still make it...

And with the way it ended, there is even hope for another Fuentes book in the future, what do you say Ms. Elkeles?

While the book was good, it was just another brother, another girl and another one about gang stuff. Of course there were some twists, but it was mostly the same as the other 2 books. The first book was all exciting, the second book was "Oh this again?" and this book was "Oh, even more of the same." So I have decided to instead of a 5 or a 4 star, to rate this a 3. And I am not sure if I will continue the book. Sure, the next one will probably feature someone from the next generation, but I am worried it will just be Boy x girl x gang (or violence).

Luis was a great character, but also highly stupid. Even more stupid than Carlos. I had expected him to be great, to stand out from his brothers, but in reality he was just the same. Same bad attitude, same flirting with girls and blehness in treating girls. Seriously, I was exciting. Here I was thinking this would be a change, but noooooo of course not. I didn't like how Luis thought, how he never once got help or tried to find help or even tried to talk to someone. And yes, yes, he was threatened and blabla, but come on, it was just lame and felt unrealistic after 2 other books of the same shit.
I disliked how he acted around Nikki. Pushing her away, then pulling her back again, it was just disgusting. Not that Nikki was any better.

And that is where we end now, with Nikki. God, I disliked her so much. I won't spoil anything, but I am getting tired of girls apparently not getting any sex education. I didn't like how she was with guys, I didn't like how she was with Luis. I don't think she and Luis fitted. I didn't like how she toyed with him.
I could continue ranting, but I will just say this, even Kiera from the previous book is better.

Also what is with the blurb? Luis falls for the wrong girl? Um what? I know Nikki isn't the best, but she isn't a wrong girl, not at all. Unless I missed something while I was reading, but he fell for Nikki, not for anyone else.

The twist? It was interesting, but after a whole book of meh things I didn't particularly like it. I also didn't like how Luis acted when he found out. Big dick move here. :\

All in all, I am just disappointed. I wish the books were a bit more diverse and less the same stuff over and over just with a different character and girl.

Simone Elkeles is a genius. I love the stories she writes, especially how raw and gritty they are. But more than anything what I love are the Fuentes brothers. They are absolutely fantastic and I am sad that their story is now over.

When it comes to the Fuentes boys, Luis has always been the good brother. Unlike his older brothers Alex and Carlos, Luis has stayed away from the gang life that almost got them both killed. Luis has a goal and a plan to reach that goal, except that his constant search for a new adrenaline rush may cause him to lose everything. And if that doesn't do it, then maybe Nikki will make Luis throw all his plans out the window. Nikki may look Mexican, but she has nothing to do with everyone who comes form the south side of Fairfield. And she also doesn't let any boys closer to her heart because they always end up breaking it. But then Luis shows up in town and Nikki is tempted to break all the rules she's followed for her whole life. For Luis, getting Nikki to trust him may be his biggest adrenaline rush yet, that is until the Latino Blood comes knocking on his door. Now Luis has to choose between his dreams and the girl he loves, or doing what almost got his family killed once.

I absolutely loved this story. Simon Elkeles is definitely a master at writing raw and gritty stories. I had very high expectations for Chain Reaction and it completely delivered. Though I have to admit that Perfect Chemistry is still my favorite book in this series, probably just because it was the first one I read. But that doesn't mean that this one wasn't absolutely great. I especially liked how elements from the other books were incorporated into this one. But mostly it was the perfect conclusion to this series, everything came full circle and everything came to a close.

The Fuentes brothers are probably my favorite fictional boys. And Luis may just be my favorite Fuentes brother. He was always so different from Alex and Carlos, he was the good little brother. But the more I got to know him, the more I came to realize he wasn't what he appeared to be. For starters, fearless doesn't even begin to describe him. Though he was really cocky more than anything else. But it wasn't overdone and it didn't stop me from totally loving him. Nikki was also very interesting and different from the other women in this series. I loved getting to know her and I could totally see where she was coming from. Most of all I loved seeing her come out of her shell and learn to trust Luis. That was probably the best part of her character. And of course I loved getting to see Alex and Brittany, and Carlos and Kiara. The best part was probably the wedding scene.

Chain Reaction was the perfect ending to an incredible series. I can't wait for more books from Simone Elkeles. But most of all, I will miss the Fuentes brothers.
