Perhaps the weakest book in the series, not least because there's never an explanation for what happens - not in the book itself, not later in the series.

Sure, existing Warhammer 40,000 fans know who Nurgle is, know where daemons come from, and can generally figure that out - but the whole point of this series to be an introduction to the setting for younger readers, who don't have any of that context. Such readers are likely to be confused and disappointed by the lack of context offered for what the Nurglings are or why they are here in the first place.

That said, the book does redeem itself somewhat by questioning the Imperium's methods and assumptions fairly harshly. Full review: https://fakegeekboy.wordpress.com/2021/02/21/just-say-no-to-grandpa-nurgle-kids/

Fun read. Liked the portrayal of the Nurglings. Also enjoyed the twist on where they came from and how they got to this particular planet.
