Dawn has been in love with Hawk for years. Hawk is her brother's best friend. They have great chemistry together but have never acted on their attraction to each other. I've read every book in this series and they are all standalones, each about a different couple, but they are all connected. As a reader, in every book there was a little glimpse into what could be between Dawn and Hawk and I was super excited for their story. Maybe I had too high of expectations because this didn't really hit the mark for me. I felt more of a connection between Dawn and Hawk when they were supporting characters in the other stories than I felt they had in their own story. There was this constant back and forth, Hawk leaving for his mission, Dawn telling him she wasn't going to wait for him (even though she's been waiting her whole life), Hawk bossing her around, Dawn begging him to stay with her, and more back and forth. I wanted so much more from this story and I felt disappointed. I have loved every other book I have read by this author but this particular story did not work for me. There were some positives, I enjoyed catching up with the characters from the other books, the old ladies interfering were funny and there was a decent amount of sexy time. I'm hoping this series continues and even though this particular book wasn't a winner, I would definitely continue reading more in this series.

I’m sad to be leaving these characters behind. I loved getting to know them all. Mineral Lake is such a fun small town. The banter between the meddling older generation, as well as the bickering among the Lodge/Freeze family, gave light and humor so these stories never got too bogged down with the more serious aspects of the tales.

This story can be read as a standalone, but those that have been reading this series I’m sure have been looking forward to Dawn and Hawk finally giving into their feelings. They have a great connection because of how close they were growing up, and that just feeds the flames between them. Hawk is a natural protector, especially of those he loves. Dawn is very stubborn and does not like to be told what to do or, worse yet, that she can’t do something. There are explosions!

While Hawk is extremely bossy and has a hard time asking instead of telling, he has good reason. He knows his friends, who are essentially his family, could be in danger because of him. The chances were slim, but he’s not one to take chances. I really liked that, at one point when things were really getting dangerous, Hawk tried to rationally explain things to Dawn. She did not like the fact that he wanted to sequester her away to keep her safe and Dawn tried to justify keeping to her regular routine by expounding her ability to defend herself. The way Hawk broke things down for her helped her to see where he was coming from, even if she didn’t like being taken out of the action. I find it rare that a MMC in a romantic suspense situation actually gives the FMC a common-sense reason she’s being left behind.

Of course, this story is about the HEA Hawk and Dawn both deserve and have been seeking. It’s also about family, found family. Since Hawk grew up without much family and his mom died before he was quite an adult, he doesn’t understand the full extent of what family can mean. As much as the Lodge/Freeze family has taken him in as one of their own even before his mother passed, he never realized the full extent of their acceptance. It was really a beautiful thing to see him with Dawn’s brothers when their relationship was exposed.

Another wonderful story from Rebecca Zanetti

Man this was so good until like 10 pages before the end. Don’t have to understand why he left that day, right? Freaking stupid. And the he just came back and she forgave him, just like that, although she told him if he left they would be over for good. Jesus that was stupid.

This book was funny and I really liked all the characters but Dawn and Hawk’s relationship got a bit annoying.

I really liked seeing the other main characters from this series and I really liked Mrs Hudson and Mrs Poppins. Dawn and Hawk as characters were fine and their interactions were funny but it annoyed me how they would sort of be together then Hawk would say that they can’t yet and have to wait.

The plot in this book was ok but it gave an excuse for Hawk to keep saying that he couldn’t commit to Dawn yet. The scene at the end was really funny, with how Hawk came for Dawn and tried to convince her that he was ready to stay.

I liked this series, especially the third book, and I want to try other books by this author. I’m curious to see if some of the other characters in this have their own books, for example Anne and Reese.

Dawn and Hawk finally get their happily ever after, after years of seemingly unrequited longing.

Determined to see Dawn happily settled, the ladies of the reservation are on a mission to pair her up with Hawk, the man she'd been in love with for most of her life.

Both the ladies' interference and some jealousy cause Hawk to finally give in to the attraction between them. He makes it clear that it's only temporary, but Dawn can't help but hope it won't be, while at the same time not willing to miss the chance to be with him, even if it's only for a little while.

The two start a scorching affair, and they fall even harder for one another, but Hawk will have to deal with his issues before the two reach their happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this book in part because it includes one of my favorite tropes, unrequited love that isn't so unrequited after all.

Disappointingly, this was book was nowhere near the five stars I had previously rated it at. I still loved the characters, but I was more interested in the relationship between family members than the main couple in this book. Which is frustrating, as the author begins setting the ground work for this one from the very first book.

This was fun! What I love most in these books is that they are no-nonsense. If the characters try to do the noble idiot things, they are surrounded by families who never let them.
Hawk tried really hard to be a noble idiot but nobody would let him ahahahha
