This was such an incredible book. What a great read for anyone who knows someone with special needs. Really, everyone should read it.

This book suited me well because of me having a special needs brother! This story is whole hearted and has a few jokes in it! My mom even read it and said it was as great as I told her it would be!

Trying to get through books I got when I was younger but never actually read so that I can pass them on and build up some little free library karma. This was a nice little story with an overarching theme of accepting others for who they are.

Lit. circle read in 5th grade... I remember liking it, and the friendship between Catherine and Jason was very sweet.

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the characters and even how it’s like living with a person with special needs; it’s sometimes sad and frustrating, but also has moments of pure joy and laughter. I felt like this book portrayed those moments clearly. I do wish more books had special needs people as the main character.

So I didn't really want to read this book. It didn't really interest me. But I read it as a favor to my sister-in-law. She thought it was soooooooooo fantastic. So I read it. And I am so glad I did. It's hard to explain why it's so great . . . but the friendship between Catherine and Jason is just so nice, funny, real, etc. that I couldn't help but fall in love. The moral of the story is a little cliche, but that doesn't matter with Lord's brilliant characters and relationships.

Book Talk
Catherine is a 12 year old girl who just wants a normal life. But her little brother David has autism, making life anything but normal. Still, by maintaining a list of RULES she can usually keep things under control. Until she meets Jason, who turns her world upside down
My Thoughts
I love this book. It's a quick read, but powerful. It challenged me to think about my own snap judgments and how I see people with disabilities.
My Recommendation
4/5 stars
Grades 5 and up
