I was not expecting this.
I don't think I was expecting this to be an Italian mafia book. Not sure what I was expecting but mafia not that.
Its a decent read. I liked the romance between them overall. I was rooting for him not to be arrested which is funny really.
The whole illegitimate brother coming onto the sister was creepy and unnecessary. I didn't think that was explained well enough to be honest.

I enjoyed this book. There were twists and the story was much different than I thought it would be. All of the italian was distracting. Some was translated and some was not, I don't like that in a book and it needs a final edit, too many wrong words that a final read thru would catch.

“You’ll be fine,” he whispers darkly. Will I? Will I really, though? Or will they read about me in some kind of travel no-no brochure in years to come. Pasty white Aussie girl gets fucked by Italian stallion and dies on the stake… literally.
I'm officially obsessed with TL Swan. Her books are just perfect. I really can't remember what made me give this a 4 instead of 5 starts, I know I didn't love it as much as the Miles High Series by Swan but it made me start another TL Swan book immediately.
“Non ti lascerò mai andare via,” he whispers into my ear. “I’m never going to let you go.” He puts his arms around me from behind and kisses my shoulder. I smile into my pillow. I’ve died and gone to Ferrara Heaven.
It was mafia light. Not much violence happens in book. I love how they met at the beginning and then he was just so obsessed with her over 2 year that he had to get her back somehow. I also really loved that it was set in Italy. I just love books set in Europe, with dialogue I can't read. I honestly love that. lol
This is his thing. Just five minutes ago he was ready to kill someone. I smile at the thought. My mouth is Enrico Ferrara’s form of Xanax.
Also always lots of good spice, but I do think there's less than in the Miles High Series, but still good!
There were a couples scenes with his ex mistress/lover that made me a bit twitchy, one was even at the end where he thought something about her and it was just really surprising in a romance book, especially so far in to the book.

You remind me of who I was before,” I whisper. “When I could be who I wanted to be.” Her eyes search mine. “You are the only honest thing left in my life, and I’m scared that if I lose you, I will lose myself.” I frown. Where the hell did that come from? I drop my head, rattled by my own admission. “Baby,” she whispers. “You are a good man. You don’t need me or anyone to prove that to you. And when you meet her and fall in love, you will know that too.”
“I don’t want to fall in love with anyone else,” I whisper as fear grips me. “What if I’m already in love with you?” “You’re not.” She smiles sadly with a shake of her head. She cups my hand to her cheek. “How do you know?” “Because when you love someone, they instantly become your family. It isn’t a choice. Your family presents itself.”

What an epic love story, TL Swan knows how to write a story that has everything you need and some things you didn’t even know you needed. The Italian has all the important things like emotion, intrigue, family and heat.
Olivia had no idea what was instore for her when she caught the eye of a gorgeous italian while on holiday, but her life was completely turned upside down from that one dinner in that little restaurant in Rome.
This is an epic story with so many twists and turns, and in true TL Swan fashion you are not going to want to do anything until you finish this book, except not want it to end. TL gives us so much emotion with her characters you are going to really care about them.
