Currently approaching: How to finish and manage critical analysis papers and research papers, but I started with a discussion of how a straight-A student managed their time for a Calculus exam just four days before the due date. It's shocking and fierce and revealing of how trivial human nature is to just want to sit down and do assignments, and how post-modernism collectively attracts us towards an unhealthy lifestyle.

In later chapters, Cal describes in detail how Straight-A students do their research, and it's exhilarating. A problem I always suffered from before reading this book was over-researching and then, on the day of the presentation, presenting an overabundance in an attempt to impress my professor or something. Cal Newport advocates that you should instead break down a research assignment into specific sections, labeling how long you think each will take. It's incredible how efficient research can become when you have a pre-conceived to guide you. Students that present ideas that are breathtaking don't just make them breaktaking based on their research, but ALSO because of their focus!

I really liked the given ideas. Obviously not every tip was practical for me, but the ones that I could do were really good with a good explanation.

This book helped me tremendously in college. Learning which materials to focus on and which ones to ignore helped me spend my time productively. For example, humanities courses tend to assign so much material that it's not reasonable to read it all and all complete your other course assignments. This book explains which resources are high value and which ones are low value.

It also breaks down effective study habits by course type. For example, in a math course you should focus on solving problems.
