This book is by far the best Hades and persephone retelling I've ever read (and trust me, there have been plenty)
From the enemies to lovers, aspect to the banter and the marriage to spite the gods. This whole book just screams PERFECTION!
This book not only goes into the feminist point of view to show how strong Persephone is but also how Hades, who is usually perceived as dark and scary, might just be over exaggerated. This book shows how men also need to be allowed to have a softer side. It shows how women need to be allowed to be in powerful roles, and men are also allowed to be gentle and don't need to be strong all the time.
I loved this book not only for its different approach but also for the banter, the witty and perfect combination that is Hades and Persephone. The way they compliment each other with their similarities as well as their differences. How Persephone tries to shield Hades from all that is bad just as much as he tries to shield her and let's not forget about the river Styx who spoke to me on a spiritual level because I too would be really mad I'd no one told me about a secret wine cellar š
But with that said, I would just like to say this was an exceptional read and one I would love to keep near to the heart.Ā

The book is rather slow pace. Some things dragged too long, the slow burn was seriously a slow burn. Sometimes too much. There was so much miscommunication, so much not talking between the characters I wanted to rip my hairs out. The ending of the book was rather stale in the sense that it just kept dragging and dragging, and after we reached what we were all waiting for (not gonna do spoilers but something between Persephone and hades) it almost seemed the book was stuck on a loop? Keep repeating the same things all over again? I enjoyed seeing a more āstrongā Persephone, one of the issuers of these types of retailing is falling for the good innocent girl x bad boy trope. This book didnāt.Ā

It took me forever to finish this book because I pretty much plummeted into a horrible months-long reading slump, but I finally finished it and I loved it so very muchĀ

This book was amazing. Talk about a slow burn relationship. I found the conversations between Persephone and Hades addicting.
Read the book.
Absolutely amazing.
