As someone who is intimidated by science, I absolutely loved this book. The illustrations are stunning and mesmerizing.

The detailed illustrations are gorgeous and provide a perfect showcase for the titular rocks.

Gorgeous. Illustrations that make you want to reach right into the picture, touch the surface of the snowflake obsidian, feel the texture of the granite, put a fingertip on the billions of years of history contained in a meteorite. Will work for young listeners who can appreciate the large, simple sentences, as well as reward older independent readers who will pore over the text written in smaller type, which gives more in-depth info.

The title of this book is intriguing - and rightfully so. This book provides interesting information on stones and rocks of all types, always with a surprise. Fun to read and educational.

The illustrations are beautiful. I wish this book came with a bag of samples of all the stones depicted in the illustrations. The pictures are accurate, but somehow much more appealing than a photo would have been.

Not just for little kids!

A child's picture book geology book. But definitely not boring. And not really a reference book. It's an attempt to teach about rocks in a way that shows the beauty of the subject. And hint of its breadth and depth. Not sure it fully succeeds but it is a nice read.

So very beautiful. Also, it almost made me interested in geology (almost).
