But...how can someone be happy while trying to be someone else? You end up being a secondary character of your own life.

Love, loss, music, suffering - a beautifully human story told through gorgeous images and dialogue.

The artwork is amazing. Bravo, Juan Cavia (illustrator), Filipe Melo (author) and Gabriela Soares (translator).

I had high expectations because of Ariel Bissett of booksunbound and the Novel definitely met them. I will totally read it a second time while listening to the song ♡

What a special story and what beautiful art to match. I was expecting a nice, comforting story, but not the various twist and turns!! Every character is so rich and I loved every one of them so deeply. I'm so happy to have this story in my life.

This book is fabulous.

It’s not ‘literature’ but it moved me kind of in the same way that Evelyn Hugo did, in the sense that it’s pacy and engaging but it has more to say than a romp like Heartstopper.

It’s about success, and what success means, envy, competitiveness, selfishness, love, sabotage, exploitation, and regret. There’s a huge sense of the difference between happiness and success.

It made me cry, I really enjoyed it. It’s just a really good story, and the art (especially the sex and drug induced art) is very original and cool. I think this pushed the limits (in the graphic novels I’ve read so far) of what a graphic novel can do, partly just by being a graphic novel clearly for adults, and partly by having the art be a reflection of the character’s experience rather than just a camera lens showing the literal scene

This was the best graphic novel I have ever read. The story was incredible, the art was beautiful, and the fact they actual produced ballad for Sophie so you could experience it was amazing. Highly recommend!
