I enjoyed the character study aspect of this book and the NYC setting. I thought it was a little slow at times and confusing at others. Needed a bit more plot to push it along in the first half.

Nothing happens, in this slow and dull slog of a book. Don’t bother.

This was not exactly what I expected but I liked it. Sometimes I felt like I had missed something, rather than just didn't find it out yet, and there are a couple of thing where I feel like "really, would someone have reacted that way?" But I chalk that up to me not being rich. I did enjoy the occasional one-off chapters, like with the stockbroker in the bar, and even the Greek chorus of women.

Good story, good if unbelievable (to me) characters, good ending.

This would make a good TV mini series/I want it to be a TV mini series

This should really be 2.5, but I rounded down. I just couldn't see the point of this book. All of the characters were awful but I'm usually fine with that. But I kept thinking "was the author thinking I would like any of these people?" Because it kind of felt that way- it wasn't satire. And they were all awful and people I would steer clear of under all circumstances.

Overall I'd say 2.75 stars.
I can't say I fully enjoyed this book, but it was an easy listen. I found myself not being super invested in the characters until much later in the book, and then at the end almost wished there was a bit more detail in the characters and the conclusion of what occurred.

I am not sure if I would have liked this book, or even finished it, had it not been on audio. The plot was very slow that I would zone out a lot and the had to re-listen. Aaaaand, I missed nothing! It's more of a character study than a domestic/psychological suspense instead of the great balance that Little Big Lies (the novel, it is slated to be like). I would put this novel in line with Mrs. Dalloway - you will either really like it or hate it (and I liked Mrs. Dalloway).

Too many characters that seemed to be just thrown in as if you should know who they are already. Rather difficult to follow.

Okay, I want to read this again. About halfway through I started thinking there were too many story lines going on but now that I have finished it I see that that was ultimately really well done. This is a Rich People In Manhattan book, but more nuanced and complex than most.
