Red Glove is the second book in Holly Black’s Curse Worker series. While I really wanted to love this book, it definitely suffers from middle book syndrome. This book doesn’t have as much excitement as the first book did, nor does it compare to some of the other books I’ve read from Black. I don’t particularly find the characters as lovable as those in some of her other stories, and I feel like a lot of this book happens off the page, rather than on it. I’m hoping that the action and story line pick back up for the final installment given the developments of this book. Hopefully, this sets the third book up for an exciting plot, that develops quickly with everything this book set up. Overall, if you’re a fan of organized crime, con-artists, and mystery with a touch of magic, I think this series would be a good fit for you even if the second book is a little bit slow.
