This was a tough one. The cover is what sold me. I loved our female core group. Cassie, Sam, Kit, Dana and Riki are all fabulous. Love the body positivity and empowerment and diversity.
Did not love that our love interest was a stupid white man who steels our MCs job and credit. Don’t even really like him as a character. He had no depth. And when we were getting backstory from him it felt rushed. Very face value.
I wanted to like this more.

To start off, the book cover is so colorful and cute, totally an eye catcher!

The accidental pinup brings you a body-inclusive outlook and an accidental romance that begins when Cassie's competition is considered to be the photographer for her best friend Dana's project. Reid who has been chosen over Cassie in past minor projects is found to slowly feel things for Cassie the more time they spend together.

I was pretty engaged in the beginning of the story, developing the characters, and so forth. At times, I felt like I would've loved it if the story would've been told from Cassie and Reid's POV separately alternating each chapter between them, even though the reader is able to decode what each of them feels, I wanted to know more of their thoughts given that Cassie has a boss-ass personality.
It was beautiful to see how Cassie set her foot down and knew to be assertive given that in the photography industry being a Black woman comes with extra challenges.

This interracial romance will have you swooning over Cassie and Reid.

This was an ARC from Goodreads giveaway.

HELLO FELLOW READER,

THIS WAS A FUN BOOK. CASSIE, OUR MAIN CHARACTER IS SO HEADSTRONG AND AMAZING. SHE ALSO HAD SUCH GROWTH THROUGHOUT THE BOOK. WHILE SHE WAS A CONFIDENT PHOTOGRAPHER, EVENTUALLY SHE REALIZES THAT SHE IS ALSO A HOT, FREAKING FIRE MODEL. REID WAS AN OKAY GUY, HE HAS A BROTHER WHO NEEDS HELP SO HE HAS NO PROBLEM SWOOPING IN AND TAKING PHOTOGRAPHY JOBS FOR THE EXTRA MONEY. I AM HAPPY THOUGH THAT HE IMMEDIATELY SAW HOW BADASS AND GORGEOUS CASSIE IS.

THE SIDE CHARACTERS IN THE ACCIDENTAL PINUP WERE ACTUALLY INTERESTING. I THINK IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE READ A BOOK WHERE THE SIDE CHARACTERS WERE JUST THERE TO PROGRESS THE PLOT BUT JACKSON MADE SURE THEY HAD DEPTH. I ABSOLUTELY ADORED SAM AND KIT. ALSO, FINALLY, A BOOK WHERE THE THIRD-ACT CONFLICT ACTUALLY MADE SENSE AND WASN'T JUST MINDLESS DRAMA TO SPLIT UP THE TWO LEADS. JACKSON ALSO DID A GOOD JOB PROMOTING BODY POSITIVITY, AS CASSIE IS PLUS SIZE BUT WASN'T HER WHOLE PERSONALITY.

OVERALL, AN ENJOYABLE ROMANCE.

This book took me on a ride!

The way I changed from rating this book 3 to 2.5 to 3 to 4 stars?!!! All of this is definitely influenced by the emotions I felt and not the book at all!

The pacing is wonderful. But girl, let’s talk about Reid for a second.

What he did was trifling! Like she definitely deserved to break up with him kind of trifling.
(CW for third act break up) but is it a third act break up if the reason is valid?

I like the fact that Ms. Babes stood up for herself. She did and boy was the grand gesture big! I loooved it. I actually actually loved it. I would have let him grovel for a bit personally, but he said sorry with actions.

I could immediately tell it’s traditionally published just cause it feels like there’s a format it’s trying to follow. Idk if that makes sense. This is not a con, just something I noticed and worth mentioning.

There were parts to this I really liked and there were parts that I really didn’t. I loved the team at Buxom Boudoir, especially Cassie. She was such a strong character, and I loved that she enjoyed what she did & knew that her photography made the people in them feel beautiful & empowered. The concepts she came up with for her photoshoots were hot!

I found Reid to be a flatter & less developed character. I didn’t like the way that he seems to be unaware of his privilege and the position of power that he was in. In my opinion, the grovelling that he does in no way makes up for what he did. I also thought the romance between Cassie & Reid was flat, and I didn’t really find them believable as a couple. She seemed to spend a lot of time educating him on what it’s like to not be a white man & he just screws her over.
