Geek Love argues that what seems sub-human about us is in fact what makes us most human, the very root of our humanity.” - Helena Fitzgerald

I’ve been struggling to find the words to describe the gnawing that this book has left me with. It is not horror, but it is horrifying. Definitely a book I used tabs on. I get why many people favorite it (I would say ‘enjoy it’, but I’m not sure how true that is). But it does help that Katherine Dunn has a way with making sure the words that need to hit home, do.

Would definitely recommend.

This was a good book. There was a lot of plot points and things happening and characters and it still seemed to drag a bit in parts. Chick was the most loveable character but I feel like there was no real reason for him to be there, except to make us hate Arturo more. Good, just not great.

Meg, you owe me for emotional damages! You owe me for something! My time back! I am owed!!!

Sick and twisted! But the book isn't bad. The best part is the creative writing. Extremely, vividly, wildly creative.

This should be a lesson to all parents: if you're a bad enough parent your family tree might end up looking like a diamond!

This is without a doubt the weirdest book I've ever read. I loved it. Absolutely unforgettable. I can see myself coming back to it again and again.

I wanted to like it, I really did. And some parts I did like. I fell in love with the character of Chick. But I just didn’t like it. It was heartbreaking, but it didn’t do it for me.

This book will probably stick with me for the rest of my life; it's unlike anything I've ever read before. It's so unique and horrible yet the author did a good job of making the characters lovable despite how different they were.
