(My review is for the series as a whole.)

The world building, the storytelling, how Smythe deals with trauma and the characters healing 👏🏾

I started reading in 2020 so it’s hard to sum up something that’s been running for so long but my favorite parts:
  • Persephone’s arc; gaining confidence in herself, owning her mistakes, healing from her past, growing into a brave woman and (sometimes wrath-filled) queen.
  • Their relationship; the pining and slow burn with a big payoff.  (The age gap is uncomfortable, she’s 19 vs he’s like as old as time but the characters address it and it’s fantasy so you let it slide). There’s a lot of trust, respect and care in their relationship and it’s nice to see it grow.
  • All the artwork is really pretty!
  • Apollo and Kronos getting exactly what they deserve as terrible, violent beings.

I’d read it again in a heartbeat and wish I could start it over.
Very well done and it’s bittersweet to see it end.

I can't believe this Webtoon has come to an end. It was my first ever Webtoon and I loved it so much. I would wait every Sunday for new episodes. Hades and Persephone are my everything. I love them so much. I'm going to miss them so much. 🥺

I’m in love with the artistic rendering of Persephone. She’s beautiful and sassy and adorable all in one. The story is so good — and the characters in a modern world are so interesting!

The God of the Dead and the vivacious daughter of Demeter are the topic of conversation across Olympus and the Underworld. Hades and Persephone, however, still have a lot to figure out on their own despite the rumors of their passion.

Persephone has battled to live up to the ideal virgin goddess ever since she arrived at Olympus. The severe pressure of the gods' expectations has only been made more difficult by her desire to Hades. And after Apollo's assault, Persephone worries that she won't be able to suppress the strong emotions of hurt and love that she has been trying so hard to bury.

Hades battles with his past while Persephone considers her future, reverting to unhealthy behaviors amid Minthe's welcoming embrace. Both Hades and Persephone tell themselves to suppress their deepest desires in the face of the rising pressure and expectations—from their loved ones, friends, and foes—but the attraction between them is too alluring and compelling. Fate has it.

Although I think this is the best book in the series so far, there were certainly some plot flaws. I'm more interested in the narrative of Eros and Psyche, which kind of sucks for me because their story is a subplot. I'm waiting for Queen Persephone because both Hades and Persephone deserve so much better.

Hades is such a dumb dork and I love him so much and doesn’t deserve to be treated like he’s worthless and unloveable! I just want to hug him! This series just addresses so many serious topics but in a realistic way as well as the healing process after trauma. I can appreciate the work gone into this series. Minthe is just the worst! I also like that Hades’ and Persephone’s relationship is a slow growth of a friend/crush to lovers. It is SLOW but it’s like a natural, realistic development of a romantic relationship where they’re growing as insidiously and addressing their past trauma.
