Struggled to get into in the first half but really picked up in the latter. The interweaving stories are always a hit with me. Loved the air of mystery around it all. Think it would hit more with a physical read not audiobook.

Another deeply compelling, lyrical story by Emily St John Mandel. We follow a brother and a sister as their lives are punctured every few years by the rapid progression and eventual downfall of a Ponzi scheme.  Mandel’s characters are flawed, real, and frustrating. We traverse tranquil oceanic landscapes, luxurious Manhattan penthouses, and bucolic Canadian towns. The writing is exquisite, although the plot meanders in the final third before dissolving altogether. I’m not a plot person so this didn’t bother me, but your mileage may vary.

I’m not sure how I feel about this book. It was enjoyable, and parts were quite beautiful, but some parts were quite slow and I don’t fully get it? I think I missed the take home.

It took me too long to catch on to the dates and the perspectives jumping all over the place. I didn't like the writing style and never felt invested in the characters, did not care how it ended...
