Very disappointing. The premise was interesting but ohhhh Keaton was the worst! She acted like she was either 15 or 85, not 25 years old. She was very silly, naive, and extremely dependent on her brother. I would have DNF but I wanted to know who killed Reef but even when that was revealed it was very unserious. I have the sequel checked out as well but I think it goes without saying that I will not be partaking in this series and probably not another book from this author again. So sorry Abby Collette

"Body and Soul Food" was an okay cozy mystery. I loved the concept of the bookstore cafe and that the MCs are twins who were separated at birth. They're lives coming together is really interesting. There wasn't much to the mystery. The MCs just sort of stumble on figuring things out, and it's not done very artfully. A lot of the book is dedicated to the main female character's anxiety, and her internal monologue is freaking out most of the time. Since hers is the only perspective, it felt repetitive. I'm still going to continue the series because I think there are great bones here. I hope the mystery is meatier in the next one.

This wasn’t the greatest cozy mystery I’ve ever read. It was decent. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators voice for certain characters was terrible. It seemed like she literally plugged her nose and spoke for Izzy and I wanted to throw my phone. I’d rather her use the same voice the whole book.

Seek out reviews by voices similar to the author.
New series! I was excited about a bookstore and eatery set near Seattle. I think part of my ambivalence was the audiobook, the narration wasn’t great, some of the voices were awful, and that was distracting. I didn’t really feel pulled into the place, which was odd since it’s 3 of my favorite places for a cozy to be set in. But I think there’s potential for the series and the characters, and I’ll probably read the next one.
I thought solving the mystery in the epilogue was weird but as long as I’m told what happens, I guess it doesn’t really matter if it’s in an epilogue or not.

This was the driest mystery I've ever listened too. The plot was sub-par, the narrator was the absolute worst!!! You literally could tell she changed her voice for a different character by holding her nose!!!! A waste of time.

Pros:

I love the concept of a Soul Good and Bookstore combo business and wish there were something like that around where I live.

Twins reuniting as adults is a great concept for a mystery solving duo.

Cons:

Parts felt repetitive and a bit forced but it was still a fun story.
