I read Because You'll Never Meet Me years ago for a grad school elective course on YA Lit. I remember the sense of being swept away by Leah Thomas's creative premise, mesmerizing and mysterious worldbuilding, and lyrical narration from multiple perspectives. After waiting impatiently for the opportunity to read the sequel, I can say that these feelings were only intensified reading Nowhere Near You. What a satisfying sequel!

It’s a really good continuation of the first book. I find the story itself very well thought out and the characters are so lovable. I even came to love the characters who weren’t even the main characters.

I forgot how much I loved the voices of both Moritz and Ollie in Because You'll Never Meet Me, the first book about them. Right from the first page, I felt like I was reading letters from old friends. A lot of really crazy stuff happens in the book, so I wasn't bored, but by far the best part for me were the characters. Even minor ones like Moritz's father had a lot of weight and made me feel like I would know them if I passed them on the street.

If you haven't read Because You'll Never Meet Me, I'd start with that one (you'll follow the inside jokes and references better in this book) first, but definitely add this one to your reading lists as well!

this book was heckin BRUTAL

so so good but also an EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER

the first book would've worked fine as a standalone but no! leah thomas was like these kids can grow more and BY GOD THEY WILL NO MATTER HOW PAINFUL THE PROCESS

EXPANDING THEIR WORLD ALL OVER THE PLACE

WE'RE GONNA SEE THE BEST AND WORST OF HUMANITY, IT'S A GO

Spoiler(SPEAKING OF THE WORST OF HUMANITY, WHARTON CAN JUMP OFF A GODDAMN CLIFF. MAX TOO BUT I'M LESS FURIOUS BECAUSE AT LEAST HE GOT PUNISHED, WHARTON DID NOT GET THE BEATDOWN HE SO RICHLY DESERVED)

anyways i am grateful to have witnessed ollie and moritz grow as people and meet other wunderkids (love you bridget and molly! <3333). excellent world expansion, would read a sequel
