This was…very difficult to rate. Perhaps I’m an outlier, but my favorite part was the history sections. Those were clearly 4 star. The numerous times allegedly consensual sex was described as “rapey”? One star. I don’t know how I’m meant to feel about any of the characters - the “good” ones do horrible things, and vice versa. Having said that, I did finish a 55 hour audio book in the two week library rental, so it was utterly engaging. I will be trying the rest of the trilogy, but I’m not committing to it. In conclusion, from one of the diary entries, the book may be best summed up as “I know I have included more than I needed to here.”

I DID IT!!! this was a long and arduous journey but I did it! I dunno how I feel. this could have been two separate books and would have worked well that way I think. regardless I was engaged the whole time wanting to know what would happen. there were def plot holes and mistakes. tho all the things I questioned being like why the fuck are we talking about this? did end up having importance so sorry for questioning you rice I didn’t know ur game I guess. anyways I will probably read the second book at some point. definitely check TWs shit gets weird

I was so disapointed with the ending. I feel like I invested so much into the book (700 or so pages by the time things started wrapping up) and the ending felt like a cheap solution to deal with the antagonist.
