As a HUGE fan of the Taken series, I can say that if I had to describe this sequel with a single word, it would be rollercoaster. Because that is what Frozen is: a rollercoaster of feelings. One moment they are okay, and the next there are guns and shoots everywhere. And please, how to forget the diversity of characters... You know, Erin, you understand. *elbow elbow wink wink* I really enjoyed this book, almost more than the first, and I am extremely excited to finish this wonderful series. Thank you.
PS: The plot twist at the end was just...

Grey and his team of rebels have set off across the country searching for answers. In search of a community that was believed to be extinct, but may actually still be alive with answers that they are desperate for. Treachery, lies, spies, and action are all par for the course. Standard follow up novel.

I really like the cover for this series a lot. FROZEN is the second installment in the TAKEN trilogy and like it's predecessor, it's well written, engaging and has several interesting plot twists.

This took me awhile to get into and I'm not sure if it was because I needed a TAKEN refresher or if it just didn't feel like a lot was happening. There are larger issues at hand, but Gray's struggle with his feelings for both Emma and Bree is still front and center. It seemed like a no-brainer to me who he should choose, but then again, he is a teenage guy and they often get confused when it comes to knowing the difference between what they want and what they need.

Out of all of the characters, Bree was my favorite. I like that she wasn't afraid to take risks or say what she feels.

The last third of the book is where things picked up for me and the final chapter, while not a cliff-hanger, does leave the reader feeling like the real stuff has yet to hit the fan. It will be interesting to see how it all ends and if the characters we've gotten to know are in fact the real deals.

I'm going to start with the covers and how I got to reading these. Last year, I had seen a ton of hype for Taken, and the cover was absolutely gorgeous, and I knew I had to get my hands on it. I did, and I liked it enough. It held my interest enough, and I defended Gray because apparently he wasn't a likeable main character, but I thought that was dumb, and I enjoyed him.

So when I saw the cover for Frozen I was still reasonably excited to read it. And then I started. This book put me in a pretty bad reading slump. And I feel like I'm the only one. I'm glad a lot of people liked it, there's nothing I hate more than not liking a book, but I will always be honest. This one didn't do it for me. It took me forever to read it because I found myself not wanting to read it, and the plot seemed all disjointed and confusing, in addition to the characters behaving strangely.

In the last one, there was the whole love triangle situation, which I'm not a big fan of anyway, but this one just seemed to get worse. I didn't like either of the girls and couldn't pick a team to root for, and ended up just being mad at Gray for liking either of them when they both treated him like shit.

There was a lot of info-dumping for the world-building parts, and I got bored and confused with it and feel like I missed a lot. But I wasn't interested enough to really go back and try to figure it out. Because why would I? And even moving further into the book, there was the BIG THING that happens that's supposed to be shocking, and yes, I was surprised, but not emotionally invested or like, truly deep-down shocked. I kind of shrugged and thought, "At least I'm closer to the end." Which is not how I want to feel about a book at all.

Sadly, I will not be on the lookout for the third installment. Just not my taste.
