i love gillian flynn. i read this back in high school, watched the show, and now have listened to the audiobook in book club. so much time has passed that i honestly forgot the final twist. so good. keeps you on your toes and so well written. everything is intentional which isn’t always the case with books like this. sometimes fluff is thrown in for the sake of a twist.

Everyone in this story is so disturbed (positive for the thriller). Heads up, though the violence to the victims but especially self harm is very graphic. If you have triggers about self harm especially cutting, please take that seriously into consideration before reading.

The book itself wasn't bad, but it's definitely not my cup of tea. I knew going in it was uncovering a twisted murder and would be gruesome, but there were many, many times I felt the language was vulgar and made me very uncomfortable as a reader. In the end, I was just happy to be done with the book.
