Why oh why did he have to call himself an opium eater instead of an opium user or addict etc?

"Here's an account of my time as an opium addict, and while I have you, also every single opinion or thought I've ever had about anything, ever."

If you can whittle your way through the sheer volume of unrelated tangents that are stuffed in here, it does have interesting moments and a dry , witty (bitchy) humor to it, but DANG it is dense as a brick to get through. I love classics and read them often, but this one took me a LONG time since it's comparatively short, and I could only do about 10 pages at a time before my brain just checked out of the experience. So I would not call this an engaging or approachable classic.

3 Stars - Might recommend, would not reread.
