Not good. I strongly disliked every character in the novel. I thought the plot was weak and that there were too many redundant passages. I usually like Jennifer Weiner but her last two novels were pretty bad. I think she's funny in real life but she's trying way too hard in the books.

This novel was entertaining enough, but nothing spectacular. The story wasn't entirely fresh and the author was in the heads of the characters too much, which would be okay if the characters actually had more interesting thoughts.

This book hooked you with the problem almost immediately, but then there was so much character development. It ended with me asking more questions. I wasn't very impressed.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a little predictable, but it's definitely my style of book. I didn't enjoy Jennifer Weiner's book before this one. This one redeemed her and reminded me of why I have loved her writing since Good In Bed. I was very struck by the journey each woman was on. I couldn't personally relate to their story lines, but I found things about each of their personalities that I could identify with and understand. I am looking forward to more of her writing.

I really enjoyed this book but was disappointed in some of the turns it made towards the end. I won't go into too much detail and give it away, though. It did taint my view of the book as a whole, though.

The book was good enough to keep me reading, but I started getting antsy toward the last few chapters. It was well written, but I felt like all the characters could have used a smidge more development.

This was my first read of a book by [a:Jennifer Weiner|9212|Jennifer Weiner|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1175639513p2/9212.jpg] and I really enjoyed it - so much so I have another couple list on my Xmas list :-)

The story concerns three women - one mother and her two daughters. As the blurb says on the back of the book the girls father, a US Senator, is revealed to have had an affair with a much younger colleague. The mother / wife finds this out live on TV, as do the daughters. The eldest is a Doctor and going through her own unhappiness and seeks solace elsewhere. The younger daughter has her problems but she is recovering from them. All three women face some interesting choices and I enjoyed the twists and turns. I like the characters and felt sympathetic for them. There was one occassion where I did think "that could only happen in a book / film" but otherwise the story seemed plausible.

I miss this author, she had some great books in the beginning and then some not so great ones. I feel that this book is in the middle. I enjoyed the characters which the author has always had great characters and the story line was good- it could have been deeper. Overall- a great beach read or lazy Sunday afternoon

I love Jennifer Weiner's books. They resonate with a genuineness that I find pretty rare. Some of them have felt like the author got inside my head and the characters were speaking my thoughts and living my life. This was not one of those books but I still enjoyed living and breathing characters that felt very real to me. The subject matter could have been trite and titillating, much like the television coverage of similar situations, including some of the ones mentioned in this book. Instead, the book gets behind the "newsworthy" aspect of the story and reveals its sad, ugly underbelly in a way that removes the sensationalism and makes it about real people. Jennifer Weiner always tackles painful, difficult material but in a way that doesn't lack for humor and irony. Her books aren't sappy but are still filled with emotion in a way that makes it tremendously satisfying to read them. As long as she keeps writing, I will keep coming back for more.
