It helps you understand the first book. But the cliffhanger is confusing till later in the first book. This isn’t the actual first book just a pre book so you can get background

The writing is great. This was an awesome little prequel to introduce the series itself, however I imagine this read won’t be for everyone. I strongly urge you to read the TW
