I like reading this one at a rainy day storytime because it shows what happens when the rain just doesn't stop - it's a flood! Of all the vehicles that try to get the stranded family back to safety, only Farmer John's rusty and trusty tractor can pull off the feat.
The rhyming refrain is good for audience participation.
The watercolor illustrations are muted but have a lot of detail.

A rural addition to this pair's stellar collection of vehicle books.

A short easy picture about the different machinery used on a farm.

Fun illustrations and straightforward text take the reader through the process of growing corn and all the parts a tractor plays in the process.

My toddler loves Sutton's [b:Demolition|14324129|Demolition|Sally Sutton|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1358752627s/14324129.jpg|18054984] and [b:Construction|24727123|Construction|Sally Sutton|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1422811720s/24727123.jpg|41977913] and is at a farm everyday, so this seemed like a no-brainer. We both found this one underwhelming. The watercolor illustrations are pretty, but subtle, and the story is too long for my 2-year-old to dig. Also, I was creepied out by this farmer pottering around his farm, ignoring this growing disaster at his feet, before he finally rallies himself to literally wading in.
