For the majority of this book, I was not thrilled because it reminded me of a knock off Hunger Games/Harry Potter (Triwizard Tournament). When the book didn’t focus on the trials, I thought the writing was great. I also liked the twist at the end. The characters are complex and I like that there was a good amount of banter throughout the book.

i get the hype, i loved this. perfect blend of magic, fantasy, romance & tragedy.
i loved the influence from the hunger games and goblet of fire with the trials. the issues of classism and racism. the TENSION was tantalisingly amazing!! i CANNOT wait until july for the second book!!!!

Especially for a debut novel, this was incredible. Fantastic. Amazing. I was kicking my feet and also on the edge of my seat. Kai may give Cassian a run for his money when it comes to “book boyfriends.” Loved the character dynamic and this world. The multiple cliffhangers have me highly anticipating the next book in this series! Loved it.
