Set in an alternate Cairo where djinn, ifrit, and angels exist alongside a steampunk 1910s. This short story began with the death of a giant naked djinn, and ends in
Spoilerself-sacrifice to open the gates to let the Lovecraftian gods to wipe the world clean
. Not what I expected at all when I started the story.

A fun ride.

I probably would have liked this novella more if I had read this series in the "correct" order - it's hard to go back to being introduced to Fatma when MASTER OF DJINN shows us so much more about her...

It really was full action punk Arabic fantasy story. Really enjoy the theme of the mystery and the characters.  Fatima is someone I can see enjoy reading all the time. If I have to ever need time to read Arabic novella this might be it. Looking forward to read master of djinn next.

Enjoyed this very much. So interesting - Lovecraftian horror set in an alt-historical Egypt. Looking forward to more by this author and in this particular setting.
