“Roark: Smith grins the entire way back to the apartment. I should have let the monster eat him“

A brief snippet of the humour filled banter between the two main characters that M.A. Grant has created in this supernatural tale which has a mixture of Harry Potter like elements with the whole  magical University that the main characters attend.

The story is narrated from the point of view of the two characters but at times gets a little disjointed as you try to work out who is who as there is a plethora of characters and I am assuming putting all of them in this book is so the reader becomes familiar with how they are connected to the main characters in follow-up books.

The book was funny and to be honest despite the few head scratching moments to work out who is who and what is happening, I was able to quickly power through it and I am looking forward to reading the second part in the series 🙂
