3.75 stars. This book had a bit of a slow start and had me a bit bored at times. It really started picking up in the last third of the book and had a perfect ending.

Really enjoyed this novel by King. It dragged at a bit in the middle, but I think that can be said about most of his books. However, the ending was fantastic.

Zowat het beste dunnere boek van King dat ik tot nu toe gelezen heb. De gypsy curse is een geweldige oude mythe waarbij je lekker kan griezelen. Ook is het einde gewoon ondanks de twist perfect voor dit boek. Absolute aanrader dus!

It was difficult to rate this book because I did find it genuinely interesting and creepy at times which is what I was looking for but the whole premise of a "g*psy curse" is obviously based in anti-Roma racism and some weird fetishization of a younger Romani girl (ignorance at best, maliciousness at worst). Sadly, these concepts only reinforce negative and dangerous stereotypes about Romani people (i.e. they are evil, magical, have dark beliefs, steal, speak a scary dark language etc).
