“Readers won’t be able to look away from this terrifying read full of twists and turns that will leave them wondering, Is there evil in all of us?” This line summed it up perfectly.
I think it’s a rare case where the sequel is better than the original, butI found that I enjoyed the Merciless II more than the Merciless. Maybe it’s because there’s less torture - there’s still an exorcism scene, but it’s not until about two thirds through the book and does not last as long. Instead, there is a lot more questioning. Sofia finds things happening to the people around her that a dark part of her wishes would happen, and then they do. Add to that the dichotomy between God and the Devil and this book still has me thinking and analyzing religion, the role God plays in our lives, the role of evil, and how we find a balance with all of it.
The sequel has left me excited for the third book, a prequel telling us about what happened to Brooklyn, the catalyst behind almost everything that’s happened to Sofia.

This book was so good. It took a lot of turns that I was not prepared for. So, Brooklyn is dead and the demon that was inside her is now inside Sofia. Dang. I really liked Jude and I thought that the exorcism actually might help Sofia. I'm curious how the next book is going to go.

It's as brutal and as fun as its predecessor with an interesting change of scenery. I find the MC quite annoying, but that doesn't take anything away from my enjoyment. Looking forward to seeing where the series goes next!

What a ride?!?!?! It was creepy, gruesome and dark. I enjoyed it much more than the first(which I really liked) and I can definitely say Danielle Vega is a go to author for me. Whenever I pick up one of her books, I can't put it down without finishing.
So, everyone else can try to rip apart tiny details, but I'm not going to. This book was good, Vega has a crazy dark imagination and I'm thankful for her Merciless series.
