A good primer on anti-fatness and weightism. Gordon cites her sources and ties in other people's work and voices. Clear voice and consistency of messaging.

Very informative book. Easy to read and understand, not too academic. Covers a lot of issues adjacent to anti fat bias including racism, anti trans bias, etc. A good reference book to use to argue points. I think my .25 knock off is mostly there because at times it was a little repetitive, and I know Aubrey mentions that it’s kind of supposed to be sectioned so that you don’t have to read the whole book through and can just go to diff chapters for certain references/answers. But at times it did make it hard for me to read a bunch at once, but familiar mentions can be skimmed through.

Very informative, well researched, and well written. A little less than 4 stars because I felt that a lot of the information was recycled during the different “myths”. While there is bound to be some connection, at times I felt like I had hit rewind on accident because I was hearing the same things.

I think this book is an excellent primer on antifatness, and it was clearly researched thoroughly. It is more detached from Aubrey's usual wit and charm on Matienance Phase, as it hones in on the science quite a bit more than on the personal. I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with that, but it did make the chapters feel overloaded with a lot of information in a relatively short span of time. I also found some of the information redundant, though that is probably intentional in a book geared towards people who may have no prior exposure to antifatness.

everyone should read this. only docking 0.5 because occasionally her writing is roundabout and she could’ve gotten to her point more directly and stronger.
