The Hunger Games is an enjoyable series and the first book was better than I expected it to be. While the beginning of the book started at a slower pace, the plot intrigued me.

A very realistic view of how our world could be, the Hunger Games depicts the twisted and cruel nature of people in power and wealth. Katniss' character grew on me. In the beginning, she came across as a very brooding and dry person, but through the challenges of the Games, her intelligence and resourcefulness became very apparent. As well as this, her relationship with Peeta was sweet and sincere; I loved seeing them together! 

Overall, there was tension and drama galore in this book. I grew to love the characters and rooted for them throughout their challenges. The plot was interesting and well-paced, and I was eager to get ahold of the next books in the series once I finished it.
