DNF'd at 22%. There is 0 chemistry between the characters so everything they do feels awkward and unrealistic. I get they have history, but history doesn't equal chemistry and I am not feeling it between these two characters. I also didn't like how Xander treated his girlfriend and basically by the sounds of it gaslit or undervalued his past relationships and then pushed that to being an issue with the women. Like we know where the book is going, so all your exs were right. Also, the fact that Nav even made that original call means she doesnt respect the women he sees either nor the relationships themselves because its not like that conversation couldn't have waited till morning, she figured he'd be with his gf, she made the joke about them getting together when she still thkught he was in a relationship, like all of that is very suspect.
I stopped when the video thing happened because it was the last straw, like never would that happen between friends who have never thought about each other sexually before just no sorry, not for me.

I typically don’t like third person written books but this one wasn’t too bad. I had higher expectations for this book though.

I recently DNFed this at 39% because it wasn't vibing with me, but I wanted to give it a proper shot so I restarted and finished it this week. Turns out I loved and hated this in equal parts.
I'm super picky with Friends-to-Lovers stories, and even more so when they're Friends-to-FWB-to-Lovers. The conflict in these stories is always so fucking predictable with the characters failing to communicate, hurting each others' feelings, getting jealous, and then realising that if they just used their fucking words it would have been fine.
I also struggle with shortform Friends-to-Lovers books because I need there to be more awkwardness and internal struggle when they suddenly realise they're attracted to the other person. Here there was one awkward kiss and then it was fine? I know Navaya was a romance writer and all but them jumping into bed so suddenly, after 31 years of friendship, just wasn't believable to me. Give me more internal monologues of them sweating over how they feel!
These two had the cutest friendship and could've made the easiest transition to an actual relationship. So when they fucked it up so predictably I was SO IRRITATED. I'm getting annoyed again just thinking about it.
2.5 stars. I liked Rilzy Adams' writing style and how she does chemistry so I'd definitely pick up another book, but this trope was not for me. Give me Tasha's book and I'm so there!

Incomplete side plots
While I enjoyed this book, I had questions about Tasha & Cole & that entire situation. I felt like we could have wrapped up their whole storyline in the epilogue as well. Feels very incomplete on that front. But otherwise good read

CW/TW: ableist slurs, mention of cheating,
What I'm going to need the audience to do is read this book because this book is A+.
