I don’t like the central framing device as a rule
because I think dissociative identity disorder is really overused and often poorly researched in media
though I’ll allow it here because the character’s background is quite faithful to the real life nature of the disease. Not his strongest novel but still entirely readable

Excellent read until the very very end! It really explored many different views with mental health.

It explains gaslighting of those with mental illness very well. I think some aspects of Identifying with the enemy as well. I loved the big reveal and shocking twist. But then… it keep going? It kind of loses steam by doing that and it brought it down a star for me because there was no need to then return again to Dustin Miller and things before the big reveal? Anyways, definitely worth a read.

I'll start this review by saying I am not a huge thriller/suspense reader. It's a semi-annual thing for me.
This book has me being extra paranoid. Swanson takes the concept of neighbor and makes you realize you don't really know your neighbors. I thought the book was slow, but the plot twists and surprises throughout made it worth it.
