Laurie Colwin died before her time, she would've been awesome on Food Network. This novel is a series of essays about food/cooking, nothing revealing (a few recipes), yet her writing is so engaging that foodies will love it. If you're not a foodie - well maybe 3*s.

Just the kind of food writing I love - honest, simple and sincere. As are all of Colwin's recipes. I'm pretty sure part of the reason I like her is that she's a cook after my own heart, using the best possible ingredients to get maximum impact with minimum fussing.
This was such a pleasure to read I'm looking forward to checking out some of her fiction.

This book was sweet, though a bit outdated from a practical sense at times. I did enjoy the prose, I found the narrator to be relatable and genuine - and there were definitely some pieces of timeless cooking advice that I've taken to heart.

She inspired me to rethink the gadgets in my kitchen, and to just buy some proper knives. For that alone, I'm grateful for the recommend on this read.

This was a charming read, if a little flat. I didn't feel emotionally attached to the writer in any way, but she had some relatable takes on cooking.

It was pleasant but also didn’t resonate with me as much as some food prose has.

My first book by this author. I liked her writing style. She’s and adventurous eater!

Lovely combination of fabulous writing with food. Laugh out loud at times. Recipes with no measurements. A bit dated, but just lovely.
