Okay, so we know by now, if it’s fake dating, it’s going on my TBR!!

TWMAR follows Bea and Jamie, who after a disastrous first meeting, hatch a fake dating plan to teach their pals a lesson about meddling in their love lives.

And I absolutely ATE UP every single moment they spent together!! I was smiling, giggling, and kicking my feet the entire way through. Representation was excellent and everything felt so plausible and real. Then the 3rd act breakup happened and it made me enraged. I have to be honest and say, it really didn’t make sense to me. I felt like Bea’s choices really made the conflict happening around her, about her. I really feel like there could’ve not been a breakup and the plot would’ve felt more fulfilling as a reader.

In the end, I still absolutely adored the characters and the story, and will absolutely continue on in the series!

I really appreciated the mental health rep in this, probably more than anything else (since it's what I connect with). It also did a really good job explaining what emotional abuse looks like (also something I've experienced). I can't say I loved the actual romance aspect, and the third-act breakup was super frustrating. But it was a good read overall.

Like an inclusive hallmark movie with nsfw content.
(inclusive as in different sexualities and disabilities mentioned and hallmark as in not that deep)
This is definitely a comfort couple and without the sensible topics would have been a comfort book too.

- introvert x introvert
I love their dynamic and how considerate and sweet they are.

Spice(quantity + quality then ÷2)
3.5/5
The spicy scenes really fit their personalities and most were descriptive.

chloe literally NEVER. MISSES. EVER. this is my current obsession because jamie&bea are sooooo hot - like i want them both holy fvck. not only did we get amazing disability rep, a PANSEXUAL QUEEN, a dirty talking mmc who i would quite literally die for, but also one of the best fake dating plots ever because they were both in it for revenge!!!! that is the energy i need forever now. i'm so mad i put this off as long as i did. i was afraid somehow it just wouldn't live up to the bergmans which is my favorite contemporary romance series of ALL TIME, but this is a vvvery close second. i cannot wait for the next installments, as i just know i'm going to be in love with the characters, the plot, and the amazing writing.

⚠️: toxic relationship (past), emotional abuse, gaslighting, panic attacks/disorders, biphobia (on page), violence, medical content, ableism

What starts as a meet-disaster turns into fake dating, with opposites attract as well as autistic and anxiety rep (also a hedgehog who loves bubble baths and two geriatric cats). I will always hate a third act breakup that doesn’t need to happen, and this one really just didn’t make sense to me. And then the resolution to the conflict also felt very conveniently contrived.  I appreciate the improving communication the main characters have throughout most of the book, which makes this third act feel that much more wrong for them.
