Agatha's renting a cottage in the village where a fortune-teller told her she'd find her true love. She's decided to forget about James by writing a mystery book. But when the local squire is found murdered in the same way as her fictional victim, the police are suddenly very interested in Agatha and her writing career. Can Agatha find out who the real killer is? And are there really fairies in her garden?

Another fun outing for Agatha, with a real surprise twist at the end.

I just didn't care very much about this Agatha Raisin book.  It's the 9th in the cozy mystery series and finds Agatha in Fryfam.   While being bored, she gets the ladies to go to the pub, where their husbands go.   She joins their sewing circle.  Nothing seems to keep the boredom away until Charles shows up.  They visit a local and end up being involved in another murder.

I got tired of hearing her pine for James Lacey.  I wish they would get married, or Beaton would move on from him.  I listened to this one, and the same narrator read it, that has read the others, so I don't know why it didn't work for me,  but it didn't.

🙂Happy Reading 🙂

This took my two weeks to read. The end was just tacked on as a weird afterthought.

Really zipped right through this one. Our incomparable Agatha and her trusty but tightwad philandering sidekick, Sir Charles, find themselves in a small village called Fryfram, where it’s said that fairies twinkle in the distance and steal people’s possessions for fun. Is it an old folk tale or is something more sinister happening? Aggie and Charles work together to get to the bottom of it, while the dead bodies begin to pile up. As they become suspects, they have to work hard to clear up the truth, and avoid being the next victims!
I liked the cast of Fryfram characters, with their small town affairs and drama. I liked seeing Agatha develop some self-esteem in getting over her obsession with James Lacey, and I liked how Charles’s characters evolves into a more caring individual, even if it’s fleeting. I did not like that ridged ending or the twist. However, I know Beaton and nothing is as it seems. So I’m not worried about how events ended in this book. Overall, Agatha will always have something to gripe about, even if we have to wait for the next book. That’s why we love her.

When a fortune teller from a previous case informs Agatha Raisin that her destiny--and true love--lies in Norfolk, she promptly rents a cottage in the quaint village of Fryfam.

Agatha goes off on holiday to Fryfam. Suddenly, she sees little lights that flicker and disappear - then things are being nicked around the house.

She decides in a fit of pride to write a book, and eventually, the plot she devised becomes a reality, and she is a suspect!
Again, Sir Charles Fraith to the rescue. They are such a fun detective pair.

Really enjoyed this one.
