This book has amateur writing style in my opinion. It’s not a horrible book but it’s by no means a good one. The plot is a series of abused tropes that adds nothing new to the genre. If you’re not a fan of insta-love or an extremely possessive love interest this is not the book for you.
One major thing I hated in the book is the main love interest was a very good friend of the FMC’s father. There’s times where the love interest thinks about if his friend, the FMC’s father who died, would approve of their relationship. His answer to that was no he wouldn’t but fuck him anyways. Just came across as slimy to me, and don’t understand why that was left in.
The descriptions at times made me have to stop reading from the cringe. Another thing I wasn’t expecting going into the book was it’s set in the modern world but after a world catastrophe occurs. At times it reminds me of a post-apocalyptic setting.
To sum up my thoughts, if you want a genuinely good series to get into, this is not what you’re looking for. However if you need a mindless summer read or something to get over a book hangover, I’d recommend it.
