My most anticipated fantasy read of the year and it met all of my expectations. A human named Oraya is found as a little girl by a Vampire King and he adopts her to raise as his own. Now an adult, Oraya enters a deadly competition (think Hunger Games) against all vampires. Including Raihn. A vampire and a Rishan which is the enemy of her adoptive father, the King. She hopes to win the tournament and gain a wish from the Goddess Nyaxia. This could change her life living among the deadly vampires but the competition shows her some hard truths and she’s left to make a decision that could change the course of her life — forever.

This story was just over 500 pages and just oh so good. I love this genre of fantasy that has romance and the slow burn part of it was just perfect. I live for those moments in the story when there’s tension and longing. It’s not just a insta lust relationship but one developed slowly over time.

Cannot wait to read part two that is out NOW on KU!

i genuinely don’t know how to feel, probably the same as Oraya at the end of the book.

Another book club smutt club book!

This was fun. Not my typical style, but fun. The tropes were out of this world. And I had a few problems with the plot. But none of that matters because I get to talk about it with my friends.

Man, I'm seriously tempted to slap a fat 5-star rating on this one! I gotta say, I freaking loved this book. The world building, man, it had me hooked. And don't even get me started on that complicated father-daughter relationship and all the crazy trials all of the contestants had to go through.

Let me tell you, Vincent was hands down my favourite! Right from the start, you could tell the king had a major soft spot for Oraya. The book straight up calls her his "greatest love." And damn, I was totally glued to the pages, soaking in every moment with Vincent. The way the vampire father and human daughter had their interactions? So freaking intriguing and gut-wrenching.

Now, here's the thing. I can't quite give it a full 5 stars, and you wanna know why? Oraya just didn't seem pissed off enough by the end. I mean, come on, I was practically fuming! It would've felt more real if she had some serious hatred and anguish going on. But hey, maybe that's just 'cause I'm head over heels for Vincent, haha!

SOLID 4 stars!
It started out good, then I feel it got a tiny bit too slow and kinda boring for a bit.
Then it picked up and I looooooved the entire last half of the book. I can’t wait to finish the series.

This is hunger games but with vampires. Plus so angsty enemies to lovers romance mixed in.
So good
